The A. Lange & S?hne Lange 1 Time Zone, introduced in 2005, featured a 41.9mm case that is 11.4mm thick and has a substantial 49.8mm lug-to-lug. It makes the Time Zone slightly wider and thicker than the regular 38.5mm Lange 1. The increased size results from the addition of the peripheral ring that holds all the 24 different cities to display the world times. So the designers did not meddle with the original proportions, and the added ring works perfectly to maintain the overall balance of the design. The case of the watch features the familiar three-layer construction that we know from other models with the notched lugs. Because of the bigger case size, the lug profile is curvier than on the regular model to ensure the watch sits well on your wrist.

Ball watches are fun because of their unique illumination. All Ball watches are illuminated by micro-gas tubes containing tritium. This technology is different from painted luminescence like Super-LumiNova because it emits light continuously and does not require sunlight to charge. The tubes glow brightly at night, even though they are not visible during the day. All hands and indices on the Marvelight Chronometer use micro-tube illumination, in green. The index at 12 o’clock glows yellow.
The big difference between the two is that the 4Hz Lemania 5100 has the chronograph minutes on the central axis along with the seconds of the chronograph. And when you design the four central hands the way Silberstein did, that layout creates a real spectacle. Also, it is not that common anymore to see the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, the small hacking seconds at 9, and the 24-hour indication at 12. The day and date indication at 3 o’clock may be traditional, but it doesn’t take anything away from the unusual layout.

It just feels more sporty. The matte black dial with white hands gives it a lot of character. Then came the release of the new Speedmaster Professional. Iseriously, I started to doubt whether or not the FOiS would be the best choice for me on that new bracelet.
